DICT Region III Multi-stakeholders Engagement Summit

The IT Department, in the persons of Dr. Khavee Agustus W. Botangen and Ms. Anazel P. Gamilla, represented the Central Luzon State University in the DICT Region III Multi-stakeholders Engagement Summit held at the Fontana Convention Center, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, on November 22, 2022. The summit, with the theme "BINDER: Building Integrated Network in the Digital Emerging Realm", gathered more than 250 participants from various sectors, including national government agencies, higher education institutions, DepEd divisions, local government units, industries, and business organizations.

One highlight of the summit is the presentation of DICT’s achievements on their key programs, such as the National Broadband Program, the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau program, the ICT Industry Development Bureau program, the Integrated Business Process Licensing System, the Vaccine Information Management System, Digital Jobs PH, TECH4ED, the Digital Startup Development and Acceleration program, the Government Emergency Communication System, and the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure. An open forum follows the presentation, in which the respective program presentors answer queries from the participants. Potential areas of collaboration to sustain the programs are also discussed.

Plaques and certifications are awarded to the participants’ respective organizations as recognition for their active and unwavering support of DICT’s regional initiatives and projects. The event concludes with a symbolic signing of the commitment manifesto, in which the signatories pledge their continued support.

It is worth noting that CLSU, through its IT Department, has been a strong partner of DICT in the implementation of the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) programs. The department’s faculty members and experts like Dr. Marlon A. Naagas, Dr. Khavee Agustus W. Botangen, Mr. Amir Ledesma, Ms. Anazel P. Gamilla, Asst. Prof. Evelyn A. Villanueva, Ms. Anjela C. Tolentino, and Mr. Ivan Christian L. Salinas are being tapped as resource persons in various national trainings and workshops being conducted by DICT-ILCDB, particularly in programming, cybersecurity, data privacy, project management, web development, and data-driven governance.

There is also an ongoing dialogue regarding the hosting of On-the-Job Training for IT students in the various offices and projects of DICT. The IT Department aims to sustain this partnership with DICT since it brings opportunities for research, extension, and skills development, both for the faculty and students.
