CLSU DIT explores academic collaboration with Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology

The Department of Information Technology of Central Luzon State University (DIT-CLSU) engaged in discussions with the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI) in Bangkok, Thailand on May 22, 2024, to explore potential academic cooperation. Dr. Khavee Agustus Botangen, head of DIT, met with Dr. Ruttikorn Varakulsiripunth, TNI’s Vice President for Research and International Relations; Dr. Tiwa Park, Dean of TNI International College (TNIC); Mr. Adisak Suasaming, Dean of TNI Faculty of Information Technology; and Dr. Kawiwat Amnatchotiphan, Chairperson of TNIC Digital Engineering. Also present from TNI were Ms. Rhea Mar Keith On-poo, International Business and Entrepreneurship Lecturer, and Ms. Maria Teresita Carlos, Global Communications Lecturer.
The discussion highlights included joint educational and research activities, student and faculty exchanges, and participation in research seminars and conferences between CLSU-DIT and TNI. Dr. Botangen presented a proposed MOU for cooperation, which had been approved by CLSU President Dr. Evaristo Abella after a review by the CLSU International Affairs Office and the University and Board Secretary. The parties agreed to proceed with the cooperation activities stipulated in the MOU, which Dr. Varakulsiripunth will endorse to their University Executive Meeting and Board of the University’s Council for official approval.
The meeting culminated with a tour of various TNI research laboratories, including the Digital Engineering Lab, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, Robotics and Technology Research Lab, Intelligent Electronic Systems Research Lab, and Multimedia Studio. Dr. Botangen’s visit to the TNI labs served as a benchmarking activity, as DIT-CLSU aims to strengthen its four research laboratories: the Cyber-Physical Systems and IoT Lab, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, Mobile and Cloud Computing Lab, and Computer Vision and Image Processing Lab.
This engagement with TNI is an initiative by the department to support the university's internationalization efforts.
