DOCE embarks 1st Hard Hatting Ceremony, deploys 85 OJT Students
To formally send the students for deployment, the Department of Civil Engineering (DOCE), in partnership with College of Engineering Student Government (CESG), launched the first ever Hard Hatting Ceremony, held today, June 14, at Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE) Hall.
Eighty-five (85) 3rd Year Students from Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) were officially deployed as On-The-Job trainees and will start their duty on June 17, 2024.
Opening the program with his opening remarks, Dr. Roy Searca Jose P. Dela Cruz, the Acting Dean of the College of Engineering shared his message to inspire the OJT candidates, followed by Engr. Leah Untalan-Gonzales, Head of DOCE, which also shared her message for the students.
Following the sharing of messages, Engr. Orlando C. De Guzman, a faculty from DOCE and OJT Coordinator shared the description and symbology of a hard hatting ceremony, as the program proceeds.
Leaded by Dean Dela Cruz and Engr. Gonzales, the hard hatting of OJT candidates proceeded together with the instructors from the Department of Civil Engineering, which was followed by the awarding of Certificate of Recognition to the students, with Engr. Orlando C. De Guzman and Engr. Laila Marie Lavandero.
As the representative of On-The-Job trainees, Mr. Keanu Lee Baguio, the highest GWA pointer, shared his speech for his colleagues as they were about to start their OJT journey.
Concluding the program, CESG Governor Kristal Pearl Sindac expressed her gratitude towards DOCE for making the event possible, as well as her good luck and congratulatory message for the OJT candidates.
