Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Central Luzon: Academic Collaborative Benchmarking

The Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Central Luzon Region initiated a collaborative academic benchmarking initiative with prestigious universities and industry partners in Tokyo, Japan, from April 4 – 11, 2024. This endeavor is geared towards fostering knowledge exchange, exploring innovative technologies, and forging potential partnerships for the mutual benefit of students and faculty members.
Ms. Anazel P. Gamilla and Ms. Evelyn A. Villanueva, esteemed members of the CLSU Department of Information Technology, represented the department in this collaborative academic benchmarking initiative with universities and industry partners in Tokyo, Japan, facilitated by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Central Luzon Region. Their participation underscores the department's commitment to fostering international collaborations, staying abreast of innovative technologies, and enhancing educational opportunities for students and faculty members.
On Day 1, April 5, 2024, the delegation attended a productive session hosted by Wacom, a pioneer in digital pen technology. Discussions centered on the latest advancements in pen tablets and their applications in animation. Representatives from various universities, including Angeles University Foundation, Bulacan State University, National University Bulacan, and Central Luzon State University, actively explored potential integrations of Wacom's products into educational courses, culminating in signing a memorandum of understanding.
Day 2, April 7, 2024, saw the delegation convening at CELSYS, the developer of Clip Studio Paint, an industry-standard software for comic creators, illustrators, and animators. Discussions revolved around potential partnerships for student immersion and on-the-job training, emphasizing the importance of practical experiences in preparing IT students for industry demands.
On Day 3, April 8, 2024, the delegation visited Mixi, a prominent online Japanese social networking service, exploring potential partnerships for on-the-job training opportunities. They then proceeded to the Tokyo Skytree Campus of the Chiba Institute of Technology, where they delved into advanced robotics technologies, emphasizing hands-on learning for educators.
Day 4, April 9, 2024, marked the journey's conclusion with a visit to Aoyama Gakuin University, known for its excellence in education and research. Discussions centered on forming collaborative partnerships offering free training opportunities to faculty and students, showcasing the university's dedication to international cooperation and knowledge exchange. These engagements underscored the commitment to fostering innovation and enhancing educational opportunities for all involved.
