ICT Proficiency Diagnostic Examination

Around 165 senior CLSU BSIT students took the ICT Proficiency Diagnostic Examination, which was conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on November 23, 2022 at the CLIRDEC Bldg., Central Luzon State University. The diagnostic exam will evaluate the competence and readiness of the graduating students for the ICT Proficiency Certification Exam being administered by DICT.
The Diagnostic Exam is a 2-hours written exam that covers programming concepts, program code tracing, and program simulation. Passers of the Diagnostic Exam will advance to the ICT Proficiency (EDP) Certification Exam (hands-on).

We got some noteworthy student comments on their exam experience:
- “The people from DICT were very nice and approachable. They explained the instructions very well for the examination. As for the exam, it was difficult since it really tested my logical skills and understanding of the problem. Even though it was only 20 points, I didn't expect that it would take me a lot of time to answer it. I am glad that I had the opportunity to take this and assess myself as to what I have learned all throughout my college years.” -Gwendolyn Hidalgo BSIT 4-2

- “They were strict regarding the process before the exam, however, the exam proctor and observer were very nice and approachable. Also, they explained every part of the instruction clearly and slowly so that all of us could follow. On the other hand, the exam was difficult and broad, as I had expected it to be, but for me, the questions were just right to measure a person's knowledge and skills about the topics. To be honest, I didn't expect the exam questions to be like that, and we have no idea what the coverage will be. That is why most of the concepts I reviewed were not included in the exam; however, some of the terms, ideas, and concepts were familiar to me. So overall, the examination was great and went smoothly. They were strict regarding the process before the exam; however, the exam proctor and observer were very nice and approachable. Also, they explained every part of the instruction clearly and slowly so that all of us could follow. - “It was an excellent yet very challenging test for us. Questions were tough and unexpected, plus there was pressure because of time. This kind of experience can encourage students like me to expand our knowledge, test our programming proficiency and capabilities, and look for more improvements to sharpen our skills. On a final note, this test from DICT is both a thought-provoking one and thrilling." -Daniel Villano BSIT 4-2

“It was an appropriate task for testing our skills in programming and to assess what more we should learn in programming. Questions are challenging but fun at the same time, as you figure out the logic behind the code. Exam time was appropriate for me—just enough to finish all the questions. I learned that there are things that I should improve on to be more proficient and capable once I enter the industry. Lastly, the DICT proctors are approachable and have explained to us everything that we need in the exam with clarity." -Joshua Vendivil BSIT 4-3
